New Brighton Middle School
Project Insight: Capitola, California
The passing of Soquel Unified School District Bond Measure allowed the District to proceed with plans to demolish all old portables, and to replace them with High Performance permanent two-story classroom buildings.
MADI worked with both the school District and school staff to determine the needs of site. After many design committee and staff collaboration meetings, MADI developed a two-story classroom building which fits the needs of New Brighton Middle School. This includes classrooms for any subject and has a specialty science classroom which opens up to a school garden.
This two-story classroom building design incorporates LEED green building design standards including natural daylight, reduced energy consumption, and a healthy learning environment. The smaller footprint of the building allows the students to enjoy more outdoor space and play area.
