Golden Gate Academy

Project Insight: Oakland Hills, California

Golden Gate Academy is a Private school determined to open a new PreK-12 Academy the east bay. The private academy was receiving funding from community donations and the Church affiliated with their proposed school.

Project Strategy:

MADI was determined to develop the campus using the unique geographical features of the site. The new campus plan utilizes the geography by developing a plan to cascade down the hill, which maximizes the usable space will still retaining a strong connection to outdoor teaching and recreation spaces.



The final plan uses permanent modular buildings and a component style structure for the gymnasium, both designed to be ‘solar-ready’ for the future. Other auxiliary spaces will be of custom on‐site construction. A strong connection to the proposal church will be accomplished so that there can be share resources.
