Project Insight: Santa Cruz, CA
MADI worked with Live Oak School District (LOSD) on the majority of their school facilities bond projects, and would go onto modernize classrooms and offices to improve their spaces.
The staff and teachers deliberated classroom needs and desires that would help optimize classroom space.
The outcome and new layout became a district standard for all the classrooms at LOSD. The “teaching wall” is a mix of cabinetry, drawers, and a teaching station. The teaching station includes two sliding whiteboards and a smart board for projection, with shelves and storage capacity behind the whiteboards and drawers’ underneath. The teaching wall is also being replicated in many other schools because it addresses storage needs and optimizes classroom teaching space.
