Boys & Girls Club
Project Insight: Santa Cruz, CA
The Boys & Girls Club was a collaboration project involving Live Oak School District, the County of Santa Cruz, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Cruz to create a new two story building to be used by Shoreline Middle School in the mornings, Boys & Girls in the afternoon, and a community rental in the evening.
This Community Youth Center has multiple classrooms, several communal gathering spaces, a full-service kitchen, and a recording studio. The integral design allows for the club to have various uses. MADI's design also considered the height, massing, and the color of neighboring buildings to give the site a similar style of architecture.
Since its completion in March of 2016, the newest addition to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Cruz has seen a massive amount of use. The space has provided an environment for the younger generation of Santa Cruz to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
